Lizard Rehabilitation Course

Course Overview

With the weather warming up we will be in need of more lizard carers and rescuers. We are holding a training session for active members interested in lizards.

The course covers basic rehabilitation practices including:

  • Species identification for lizards in the Hunter
  • Common rescue scenarios and injuries
  • Handling, catch techniques and transport
  • Initial assessment and viability
  • Rehabilitation process
  • Medication and treatments
  • Diseases and parasites
  • Housing and husbandry
  • Diet and supplements
  • Assessment for release and release process
  • Invasive species and process
  • Dumped and escaped pets

This course is limited to Hunter Wildlife Rescue members who have completed their Introductory Course and  who can commit to rescue, caring and potential release.

Venue

Hunter Wildlife Rescue Centre at the Hunter Wetlands. Please park in carpark 2

Catering

Please bring your own lunch. Morning tea will be provided. Please tell us if you have any special dietary requirements.
